How to look after your robotic lawnmower

Find all the answers to the questions you have about looking after your McCulloch robotic lawnmower.

WHAT IS THE LIFETIME OF THE BATTERY?

The battery is maintenance-free but has a limited life span of 2-4 years. Battery life is dependent on the length of the season and how many hours a day ROB is used. A long season or many hours of use a day means that the battery must be replaced more regularly. If the operating times for the lawnmower are shorter between charges, this indicates that the battery is getting old and will eventually need replacing. You should take this to your nearest authorised McCulloch servicing dealer to replace.

DO I NEED TO STORE ROB INSIDE DURING THE WINTER?

Yes. Before putting ROB away for the winter he should be cleaned and wiped dry, then stored in dry, frost-free conditions. It is also recommended that that the charging station is stored indoors over the winter. The boundary wire can remain in the lawn at all times.

WHAT IS THE LIFETIME OF THE BLADES?

The lifetime of the blades varies immensely and depends for instance on:

  • Operating time and size of the working area
  • Type of grass
  • Type of soil

  • The presence of objects such as pine cones, toys, tools, stones, roots and alike on the lawn are likely to damage your mowers cutting blades and should be removed from the lawn regularly to avoid damage to your machine. You can easily replace the blades by yourself.

HOW DO I MAINTAIN ROB TO KEEP HIM IN THE BEST CONDITION?

Replacing the blades on your robotic lawnmower regularly is vital to maintain an excellent cutting result. Now and then, depending on your lawn size, you should spend a few minutes cleaning grass from the wheels and chassis as well as from the charging station.

HOW DO I REPLACE THE BLADES AND WHAT DO I NEED?

You can replace the three lightweight blades in five minutes using a regular screwdriver. Make sure you also change the screws, but when doing so - wear suitable gloves or hand protection.

WILL ROB CUT IN VERY HOT CONDITIONS?

ROB is designed to function in temperatures of up to about 45°C.
